Site accessibility

Making a site accessible to everyone is important. The Minster website is being redesigned, aiming to ensure that it is accessible to all, and that it conforms to accessibility guidelines as set out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative.

Text size

On redesigned pages, users may change text size by using the blue text size buttons on the top right of each page. The A+ button will increase text size in five incremental steps; A- reduces text size; the 'reset' button restores the default text size.

Site navigation using tabs

Users may navigate forwards through the links on each page by using the computer’s tab key to highlight active links (press shift key + tab to navigate in reverse order). Pressing Enter will then access the highlighted link. When using the tab key in this manner, other shortcut access links are revealed—see below.

Access keys

The site supports the use of a number of access keys, which provide keyboard shortcuts and offer an alternative means of site navigation. They enable users with limited physical capabilities to navigate the site more easily. To use these keys:

  • in Mozilla, press Shift + Alt + the relevant access key
  • in Internet Explorer, press Alt + the access key, then 'Enter'

Access keys supported on this website are:

  • 0 Accessibility
  • 1 Home page
  • 3 Site map
  • J Jump to top of page
  • N Skip to main navigation bar
  • S Skip to main text
