The Choirs of Southwell Minster
There are three choirs forming the Minster Music Foundation:
The choir of men and boy choristers has a long and illustrious tradition stretching back over a thousand years. The choristers have always been educated at the Minster School; the gentlemen of the choir are either professional layclerks, who work in Southwell or nearby, or younger choral scholars who sing in the choir for perhaps just a year between leaving school and going to university.

The Girls’ Choir, directed by the Assistant Organist, Simon Bell, was formed in 2005. At present, the Choir sings evensong on some Mondays in the month, and occasionally sings at the 9.30 am Sunday Family Eucharist.

The Minster Chorale is a voluntary adult choir that sings services throughout the year in the Minster, most importantly when the Minster Choir is on holiday. It also sings on major festivals and gives occasional concerts in other venues.
