The Friends of Southwell Cathedral Registered charity No. 1039131
Is Southwell a special place for you?
Then you will want to know about the Friends of Southwell Cathedral.
For sixty years the Friends have been supporting Southwell Minster, the cathedral church of Nottinghamshire. This support is particularly important as the Minster stands in the smallest cathedral town in England.
The Friends aim to raise funds to assist with:
- preserving this ancient and beautiful building
- maintaining daily worship in it
- conserving and enhancing its furnishings and adornments
About half our membership lives within Nottinghamshire. For them the Minster is their own local cathedral and historically the foremost church in the county.
An equal number of Friends live elsewhere in the United Kingdom and all over the world. They perhaps once lived in Nottinghamshire and wish to retain a connection with the Minster or they may be onetime visitors who have been captivated by the building and its atmosphere.
