Set in a quiet market town, Southwell Minster—with its majestic Norman nave and glorious 13th-century chapter house—is one of the least known jewels in the crown of Nottinghamshire. On this website you may learn something of the history of Nottinghamshire’s cathedral, sample some of its many visual splendours in the Photographic Tour, and find out about its fine Organs, its well-documented musical heritage and its justly renowned Choir.
The Minster’s popular Education programme, run by a part-time Education Officer, encourages children and young people to visit the Minster and to participate in a variety of activities. The Minster is also a very popular venue for concerts and exhibitions.
We hope that what you find here will encourage you to come and visit Southwell Minster. Information on how to get here and the facilities available for visitors may be found on the Visitors’ Information page.
